About Us

The ECAC will aim at promoting environmental compliance by assisting the industry to meet national and regional regulatory requirements with a strategic view of stretching beyond the domain of mandatory compliance and achieving other voluntary national and international standards by providing them information, extending technical support and developing capabilities.

Functioning of ECAC :

It has been envisaged that at the very initial period of start-up, WBPCB will support the activities of ECAC. This support will be mostly in the form of infrastructural assistance needed such as internet, fax, mail, photo-copying etc. Support would also be provided in terms of availability of staff and other facilities as required. The mechanism of sourcing and dissemination of information including organization of workshops, conference etc would also be offered by ECAC.

However, all these will be of temporary nature to put ECAC on a growth path. Ultimately, it has been planned to let the ECAC grow into a full-fledged autonomous body running its own operations independently. Also, it would have a very lean organization of only very few essential staff centered around a core committee of experts. Most of the work required to be done including documentation, net research etc. are proposed to be outsourced.

It is also envisaged that in due course of time, most of its work, according to the objectives as described elsewhere, would be carried out over the net, as far as practicable.

The ECAC will function from Industry House, 2nd Floor, 10 Camac Street, Kolkata 700017. The ECAC will receive technical, logistical and financial assistance and active cooperation from a host of partners – both on the domestic as well as the international front. The primary partners are :
