Welcome to ECAC

Environment Compliance Assistance Centre (ECAC)

ECAC has been established by the Department of Environment, Govt. of West Bengal in collaboration with the West Bengal Pollution Control Board (WBPCB) and in cooperation with the Asian Environmental Compliance and Enforcement Network (AECEN), a regional network established to promote improved compliance with environmental and legal requirements in Asia. It is being done through regional exchange of innovative policies and practices with support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

 

Environment Compliance Assistance Centre (ECAC), will provide industries with access to a wide range of information on environmental compliance and enforcement to assist industries in meeting national and international regulatory requirements and going beyond with voluntary measures.

 

ECAC focus

Tannery and Chrome Chemicals Manufacturing Sector Lead Acid Storage Battery Manufacturing, Secondary Lead Smelting and Processing Sector Dyeing, Bleaching and Integrated Textile Processing Sector Downstream Petrochemical, Chemical & Plastic Processing

 

Primary functions of the ECAC are to:

Introduce innovative technologies demonstrating cost efficiency and environmental benefits;
Develop programs for introducing self monitoring, voluntary compliance and mainstream environmental issues into corporate practices;
Networking with all stakeholders.
